      1. City Hall models restored

        1. In 1912, the Municipality of Rotterdam announced a competition to design a new City Hall on Coolsingel. A number of the models which were entered for the competition remained for decades in the City Hall’s attic in Rotterdam. A few of them are on display in The Ruin exhibition. Others however were restored for inclusion in the collection of the New Institute.

        1. The restoration project has been a substantial, labor-intensive task. Before restoration work could begin, research was needed on technical aspects of the materials and on the architecture-historical background of the models.
