Acclaimed architectural historian and theorist Beatriz Colomina (Princeton University) gave a lecture on the background to Playboy Architecture, 1953-1979 on 3 July 2013 at The New Institute. Fragments of this exhibition are part of The New Institute’s summer program The Ruin. Playboy Architecture shows how Playboy magazine identified architecture and design as important instruments for the development of a new identity for the American man. Colomina curated this exhibition, which was previously presented in Bureau Europa in Maastricht. Following the lecture, Dirk van den Heuvel (Delft University of Technology) entered into discussion with Colomina.
